An elegantly curved 1979 vintage vase, that features soft cream folds and gold detailing is adorned with something a little shocking some might say! I remember the first time I read those words I was both embarrassed and allured. I was a teenager then and the letter accidentally sent from Robbie Turner to Cecilia Tallis not only filled me with the same sort of dread you get when you send the wrong person a private text. The raw and unfiltered words shared in that instant made me feel like I wasn’t supposed to be there, watching as it all unfolded. I had entered a deeply private moment and I could hardly bear how uncomfortable I felt but within the discomfort I was completely struck still by the beauty of it all. How could something so seemingly “crude”, something that made me cringe, feel like poetry? That moment made me question everything and has stayed with me ever since. The orchid is a well known symbol of the erotic, of love and lust but also of strength. I knew as soon as I found this beautiful ceramic that it was meant for something a little striking.
