They Love Me. They Love Me Not. They Love Me. They Love Me Not…

A truly incredible hand selected Vintage vase/centrepiece adorned in Venus Fly Traps, Words of Longing and you got it…a Graveyard of lil Flies! When I found this vase I knew I wanted it to tell a story as you moved around it. The eight columns that curve out from the vase were perfect to create panels to share a moment and to tell a story. As I held the vase it reminded me of the shape of a flower, its columns each a separate petal. I began to think of all the times as a child I would sit outside and pick the petals off daisies whilst murmuring to myself “They Love Me…They Love Me Not…” thinking of whoever it was I had an infatuation with at that time (Bisexuals say whaaaat!). I haven’t done that in a very long time now but it made me think of how relevant this cycle and repetition of “They Love Me (Not)” thinking and feeling can be in the virtual, like based World we exist in today. It reminded me of a Venus Fly Trap, attractive and alluring in one moment, making you feel loved and in love and then suddenly trapped and consumed in another. The highs of love irresistible and the lows sometimes fatal. As you turn the vase around in your hands the story continues without an end or a finite point, endlessly picking the petals off daisies.
